Our Ecolodge
Since the conception of Palaa Mayapo Ecolodge in early 2021, our dream has been to build a sustainable hotel that adapts to the Wayuu landscape and culture in Mayapo, La Guajira. Starting with the architectural design, which is based on the "rancherías", a traditional Wayuu house. Local materials are used, such as "yotojoro", which is a type of wood extracted from the dry cactus. The interior design is based on Wayuu craftsmanship. The environmental aspect of the project is fundamental. Solar energy, water reuse, permaculture, recycling and the non-use of plastic are part of the core ideologies of the business.
The idea of an ecolodge in Mayapo came from two travelers in search of a unique culture and constant winds. With this project, They want to demonstrate that sustainable tourism is possible in the North of Colombia, respecting the environment, construction and development under environmental criteria. For us, amazing experiences can be based on simplicity. We are inspired by water sports, which leads us to travel long distances to enjoy this beautiful wind that has accompanied us since the beginning of time.

Guajira Sport Center
You can take advantage of the entire structure of our Sport Center, a place dedicated to our sports friends, where those who want to learn kitesurfing, Wingfoil, windsurfing, SUP and much more, can do it with all the support and security they need.
In addition to the classes for beginners, we have a team specialized in helping you improve your navigation techniques with specific training. We offer you access to a variety of the best equipment on the market for rent, but if you prefer to come with yours, our Storage (included in the accommodation) is ready to store them very carefully. Come and have fun, or maybe find your next passion!

The second common space, Palaa Relax Lounge, which is in front of the beach and next to our exquisite restaurant, was made solely to create a traditional atmosphere, decorated with local wooden furniture, hammocks for meditation, reading and sleeping. It is so special that you want to stay there!
